I have seen these other places, but the one place I really remember is Old Navy!  I love the idea of this necklace!  They are so pretty!  My only deal is when I saw it I thought... "I could make that."  So I did.  I have usually seen them with beads the same size as the ribbon and they are usually done on a much larger scale.

I decided to see how these would look on slightly smaller scale.  I must say that the first one I made turned out magnificent!  Here is how to make em!
To start you will need embroidery floss, beads and at least 4 feet of ribbon That length will also depend on the size of your beads.  I would just keep you ribbon on the spool to be safe!
I started about 12 inches down from the tip of my ribbon.
Using a whole piece of embroidery floss I tied a double knot at the end and threaded through one bead and the ribbon.  (I just noticed that this picture is backwards.  Be sure that your needle is going the other direction!  Bead to ribbon.  lol
I then used a smaller matching bead and went through it, around and then back through the first bead.
This picture I took just so you could see what was going on better.  I wrapped the ribbon around to the other side of the bead and right where the hole would be when you wrap it... Poke your thread through. Then back into another bead.
Just keep going in this fashion.  Threading a bead and wrapping the ribbon.
At the end... Do the same thing to finish... only this time when poking through the last bead and then the second to last.  Using your needle wrap your thread around the thread inside this.
To finish it off I burned the ends slightly so they wouldn't fray.  And to put it on I just tied it into a pretty bow!
Such a pretty necklace... and a pretty model!
Here is what it looked like from the side.

AND NOW FOR THE GIVEAWAY!
You will be trying to win one of these 3 necklaces.  You may choose between the Pink.
This Brown.  (It's made from a thinner ribbon.)  I also just noticed what an awful picture this is!  Much prettier in person.  The beads are slightly reddish.
Or this Black and Cream one.  (I tried using a very tiny thin ribbon for this one.  It still cute, but I think I personally like the thicker ribbon.)

Daisy Hair Flower

OK.. these are pretty basic and simple.  I have people ask me all the time were I buy them cause the can get pricey if you make them yourself!  Embellish these however you like!  Mix and match petals!  Add some fabric or ribbon!  This is just a basic one to get you started!
Take apart your flower!  Clip that middle yellow portions as short as you can.

Get a piece of ribbon about 6 inches and poke it through all the layers of your flower...   by the loop!  You want the loop in the back.
On the back side put your hair clip through the loop and pull tight!

Thread ends on the other side through a button.

Double knot and clip the ends.

Hot glue the back the flower to your clip.
Generously apply hot glue around the button.  (I ended up putting more than shown here.

Press your middle on, curving the flower petals up to it.

Taa Daaaaa!  Done!

Tying Up a Snake

This came about when we were invited to a little boy birthday party at the last minute... at the end of a paycheck!  (We are very strict on our budget!  lol)  I was wracking my brain trying to think of a little boy safe gift I could MAKE that would be little boy safe!  Here is what I came up with!

Who doesn't have a million ties around?  My hubby recently decided to go through his giant pile and pick some to "throw away".  Boy am I glad I saved them!
Find yourself a snake-like print tie!
My seam ripper is dull, so I used my tiny scissors.  Just slice open you tie.
Look!  This one had a penny inside!  So glad we didn't throw IT away!  lol
You are going to start working from the tip.
Fold it in half as best you can.  Just make sure the tip is even.  Some ties are not even after you slice them open, but you can ignore that if you tip is straight!  If you look hard notice I marked where an eye was going to go.  It's in between my fingers.  I did this first so I could be sure they were even.
Sew down them eyeballs!
See... Even!
Fold over one side of the pointed end about and inch and a half.  You are going to sew just the folded part where my scissors are pointing.
See!
Now... fold over the other direction so that other side of the point is over about and inch and a half!  Try to ignore the fact that it is sewn on the other side.  You are just trying to mimic what you did with the first side.
Again... just sew the folded portion.
This is what it should look like when you open it up!  The tip there will be the mouth! I thought I had a picture where I inserted the tounge.    Just place it in inside, in the middle... the next step you will sew it down.
See... the tip of my snake tongue is under there, being sewn down.  I used red grosgrain ribbon.
Now make sure your tongue inside is out of the way.  Fold the tie so that the edges line up all the way down.  Remember those points near my thumb that didn't quite match up?  Just round them out as you are sewing and make sure you are sewing through both layers!
Use a stick to right side out you new friend!
I lost my funnel so I made one from paper, but I would masking tape it to the end so you don't have to hold it!  I used dried beans to fill mine.  You could use rice too!  Rice would have been easier cause the beans would sometimes clog in the skinny part of the tail on the way to the face!  Be sure not to fill him to full and just straight stitch the tail closed when you are done!
Isn't he awesome!

Corner Clean-up

I'm sure all have a beautiful place in your home where the mail seems to migrate and live, whether you keep it there or shove it there in a frantic cleaning when company is coming over!  Well... I am embarrassed, but here is mine!  It's hard to sort through and ends up all over the counter when I'm searching for a certain... something!  This is also the place my purse lives when it's not over my shoulder as I head out the door.  Sometimes... I go to put it back... and... it lands on a messy pile.  I regret to tell you this is the cleanest this counter has been in a while.  (No... I didn't clean it for this post...  I think it is cleaner cause we just got back from vacation!)  So.. this post is showing my attempt at how to keep that dreaded corner clean in you home.  Enjoy!
I started with 3 big Cheerio boxes... if you look closely... you will notice that one of my boxes has been used for target practice with a blow dart gun!  (Or was I that thoughtful and covered it up... Hmm...)
I then measured on all 3 where I wanted the top of my box to be on the high end.  I used a magazine for measurement.
I also measured them where I wanted at the lowest point for the front of my mail organizer thingies.  I marked the magazine to be sure they would all the the same!
I drew diagonals on both sides of all 3 from top mark to bottom mark.  I then cut along the black lines.
Here is what I ended up with!  I wasn't going to use the other half, but the seemed the be just the right size for un-opened mail.  So I taped them back together using masking tape.  I also taped the inside bottoms closed all all the boxes.
I then lined up my 3 boxes and taped the top sides together with the thick masking tape.  Kinda hard to see in the photo.  It's just the 2 top cut portions that will be touching...
I used the masking tape again to tape closed all the ends and squish them all together.
The gluing of the paper is hard to take a picture of, but... I just held up cute scrapbook paper and cut it so it would be a little larger than the side I was putting it on.  For the two ends of each I cut slits at the top where it would fold over into each seperate section.

To put it simply.  Measure you paper and Mod Podge AWAY!!!!!!!
Here are my 2 boxes drying overnight.  I did each side a different paper.  You could go crazy and cut and tear lots of papers or go more simple and do all sides the same.
Here is my nice organized corner.  I thought about labeling each section and probably still will, but I wanted to see what kind of junk papers cam through before I did that.   I think my sections on the big one will be:  Kiddos, File It, and Scott (That's my hubbies name.)  Notice his section on the far right... PACKED!  He is in the military and we get tons of crazy paper work coming through.  It usually ends up in it's own giant box...  But I wanted to show you EVERYTHING that was on the counter!

This would also be a great way to organize your magazines, piano books, recipes.... you name it!
