Polar Express Candy Trains

Ok... I know that these are probably to late for anyone to create them for school, but... I was shocked how many people hadn't seen candy trains! Teachers even! So.. I wasn't going to post these but decided to just in case my rendition was helpful. Both if my kids watched Polar Express this last Thursday and I took the opportunity to create a fun gift for all their friends!

Below are pictures of what candy I uses and my process. I won't note you with any more explanation other then... Watch you fingers with that hot glue gun!! (Not that I am speaking from experience. Unless Santa is reading... Then I am!)

Snowflake Tortillas

My kids are big fans of buttered tortillas as a snack. This morning I figured they eat crepes with butter and sugar so... Why not tortillas! Then I just had to put a snowy twist to them!

These are super simple. To start you will need soft tortillas. If yours are not soft enough to fold without breaking you can nuke them in the microwave for for a couple seconds first.
Then you are going to want to fold one in half...
Then in thirds...
By this point you will have a nice little triangle thing.
You will need some good sharp kitchen scissors to cut it into a snowflake! I had a tough time making curves... Maybe I'd it wasn't folded as much?
The toss it in a heated and buttered pan to crisp it a bit.
And plop it on a plate... And sprinkle with yummy sugar!
My kids loved breakfast!  Lol.  I served it with strawberries and pears because... I had them!

Lesson 41 Printable

OK...  call me lazy, but I didn't draw anything creative this week for my lesson.  I have a CD of fun printable that goes along with the lesson and I cheated and use that!  Turns out it was ok, because I spent this sunday at home with my sick little girl!  I was so sad I wasn't there because it was fast sunday!  The lesson went right along with it.  Plus, I LOVE listening to everyone's testimony!  What a great way for me to get to know the people in the ward right?

Anywas... My plan was to follow the lesson as usual and I did create an easy printable for you.  The lesson this week was #41 in the manual.  It was on Fasting and Part of the lesson had the kids pull specific questions out of a bag.  Pretty much just to help keep their attention.  My printable is just the questions for you to print out so you don't have to write them!   I had it all prepped so I sent my book, printed coloring sheet and my precut strips with my hubby to give to the sub I found! Yeah last minute subs!!!

School Safe Snowman Snack

Wow... there are alot of "S"s in that title!  LOL
Am I crazy for being so excited to do treats for Aurora's class again!  No?  Ok good!  I was tempted to do the reindeer treats from last year, but... my created juice wouldn't allow that!
These were pretty easy to make.  It is even easier when the kids have friends over and everyone is easily bribed with leftover snacks!  Yeah for child labor over here right?  Ha HA!
To start you will need a few things.  I snagged a couple boxes of Little Debbies Powered Donuts, a tiny detail brush, some orange paint, some bell candy (I went with Crunch because there is a kid in the class with a peanut allergy.), a black paint marker/pen, and some circles cut from coordinating paper with fun scissors!  I let my slaves cut the circles.  They were awesome!  Funny how I ended up loving the ones that weren't as perfect as the ones I cut out.
While I waited for my glue gun to heat up (and for the slaves to finish their cutting...)  I used my black paint marker to paint all the donuts like so!
Then I quick added a triangle nose with the detail brush and orange paint.
Next I used a tiny dot of hot glue and blew about 3 seconds so it wasn't to hot before putting the chocolate on top!
I then used a tiny dot of glue to place the hats on the snowmen heads.
See... here is the army!  Don't worry... they are easily destroyed... I mean... eaten!

Aurora's class LOVED them.  And Aurora was excited to share our little creation!
