Jamaican Mu Mu Crazy One

My In-Laws recently returned from their mission for our church in Jamaica.  Yes... I know you are all thinking, "Seriously... that is more of a vacation!"  I suppose most would think that.  I know I did, but there is so much need there I know it was difficult for them many times.  They were broken into and had their car stolen..  For more visit their mission blog, Tropical Tracting!

The Upcycled Sweatshirt

 The Upcycle Circle

My MIL had a box of clothing she was giving away, so...  I raided it!  Then I had a magical idea.  Here are seven shirts I pulled.  For each shirt I upcycle I will use the remnants of a different shirt to finish or embellish it.
Enter....  THE UPCYCLE CIRCLE!!!  So, for each shirt I will use the remnants of the shirt to it's right!  Going around in a circle!!! Are you ready?

Fingerless Gloves Tutorial

Here are some awesome purple socks from the stash my Mother-In-Law was giving away.  These seemed hardly worn and the color was to perfect to match the Hooded Scarf I had just made Aurora!

Hooded Scarf Tutorial

Here is a scarf I bought for 50 cents at Wal-Mart in Alaska!  We came up here from Rapid City and NEW it wouldn't be as cold, so...  we only came up with jackets!  Of course there are a few cold moments so I am arming the kiddos with a few warmer things.  Of course... just the scarf wouldn't suffice with me!
First... I should tell you that this scarf is DOUBLE LAYERED.  If you are making this from scratch...  double the layers!

Chinese Shirt Refashion

When visiting my in-laws in Alaska (And yes... feel free to be jealous.  That is where they live!)  Anyways...  She was giving away boxes of clothing and such for Spring Cleaning time.  I couldn't resist my natural pilfering and recycling urge!  Yup... even while on vacation!  So...

General Conference Sandwiches

Yes... we enjoy silly things.  Yes...  We enjoy sandwiches.  Yes... We enjoy silly sandwiches.  I must say this one did not turn out how I thought.   The actual eating of the meal was slightly cannibalistic.

Dr. Seuss Pony-hawk

We are big fans of a mohawk in our home.  Aurora was especially excited to have a mohawk because... well.. BOTH of her little brothers have Faux Hawks!  When trying to come up with hair styles for Dr. Seuss week I happened to spy a picture of here with something similar to this from when she was about 2 flashing by on her daddy's laptop screen saver!  Talk about fate!  I remember doing that one when Sanjya  was on American Idol and got criticized for his.  I thought it was hilarious and put one on her!  So...  here is our updated version!
We started with SUPER wet hair.

Horton Hears the Holy Ghost?

Ok... so maybe this was a bit of a stretch, but... it just happened to be Dr. Seuss week and I knew the girls would be doing neat things at school, so... I wanted to do fun things in Activity Days!

I, of course, started out by reading "Horton Hears a Who".  When it was over we talked about how Horton knew that he heard something even though he couldn't see it.  Nobody believed him because he had something they didn't.  Horton and gigantic ears and we have the Holy Ghost.  We know that the Holy Ghost wouldn't led us astray.  We know that because of our baptismal blessings we are able to have him around whenever we may need his guidance.  There may be times we feel that inspiration when around our friends who are not fo the same faith.  They may laugh when we choose to not watch a certain movie or even wear certain clothes.  This doesn't mean that they are bad, it just means they don't have the benefit of the same teachings that we do.

General Conference Ideas

Since we are mid vacation/moving I haven't been able to create anything fun for you for General Conference, but...  Thanks to the wonderful world of the internet and the amazing skills of others, I still have some fun ideas to share with you!
